Weekend Recap: Fireworks on the Fourth

For the 4th of July, I visited my mom in Flotown. We spent the day out by the pool tanning and napping. After the pool, we really didn't have any plans as to what we were actually going to do for fireworks, which is like one of my favorite things in life. So we got all dressed up and headed to...Darlington Raceway. Now those who know me are not surprised by this: I have a slight obsession with NASCAR, and Jeff Gordon. Whatever, not a big deal. It's my one redneck tendency. And my grandparents do have a NASCAR Christmas tree and Dale cutout, so it's probably inevitable that I enjoy this sport and could surely be blamed on genetics.

I've been to a couple races, and always love showing up in my prissy outfits to watch the race. Sometimes it's kind of fun to stand out in the drunken crowd, right? We dressed up to go to Darlington for the fourth too in our dresses and Jacks, where we enjoyed turkey legs and cotton candy before watching fireworks from the infield. Y'all--we got to drive under the track. I've never done that before and it was too cool! The fireworks were awesome, some of the best I've ever seen. I'm so glad I got to create a new tradition with my family this year!
