2019 saw a lot of Amazon orders for our household. We've become increasingly more reliant on the benefits of Prime for a lot of our cleaning and toiletry basics, as well as gifting and shopping as we live in a pretty small town {plus, I hate going to the Wal-mart}. A few of the things I purchased last year have been somewhat life changing so I wanted to share with you!

Key-less Entry Deadbolt--this was a Christmas gift to CJM, but was really a gift for both of us! This has eliminated the worry of "where is the key" when we leave or have someone staying at the house to watch the dogs. You can set up to six unique identifying codes, it can be programmed to lock on it's own after a few seconds for safety, and was pretty easy to install. There are fancier WiFi enabled options, but this one has worked really well for us in combination with our Ring doorbell and Blink video system.

Faux Fur Wrap--with two winter weddings, I wanted to find a fashionable and warm wrap. This one is beautiful, inexpensive, and warm! I'll be wearing it again this weekend actually!

Packing Cubes--my sister in law informed me I was traveling all wrong, and boy was she right. If you don't want to check a bag, packing cubes are a must. Even if you're not flying, this has helped all my items stay much more organized, and I can actually pack more things in every bag. A win win in my book!

Revlon One Step--I actually bought this for myself in 2018, but loved it enough to gift in 2019! This is a blow dry brush that doesn't rotate, is really large so it provides a shiny, sleek look to any length of hair. I always get compliments on the volume of my 'do when I use.

Jewelry Organizer--another way to step up the traveling game. This pretty blush organizer has tons of pockets, holes for earrings to go through, and folds up to keep everything together. No more tangled necklaces here!

Micro-needle Acne Patches--I have hormonal cystic acne, and I'm allergic to benzyl peroxide. I can only use salicylic acid products, but topical treatments really don't work on cysts. These micro-needle patches gently infuse the medication into the cyst, greatly reducing the inflammation/pain/and time you spend dealing with those suckers. My little brother has also had great success with these!

Make Up Rags--Who else has ruined white rags with mascara stains? There's a lot of different make up removing cloths out there these days, but I just wanted a regular one for after washing my make up off with my preferred soaps. I found these cute black ones pre-embroidered and they've been a great addition to my bathrooms.

Amazon Essentials Sweaters--I LOVE these sweaters. They're not too thick, very stretchy, and come in a million colors. I love the for work and weekends, and the price/quality can't be beat. Perfect with black slacks for a solid "office uniform." Go get 'em!

Brightening serum--I have been struggling with some dark marks {thanks, cystic acne} this year that I didn't have in the past. I looked into some more expensive skin care lines {R+F in particular} but can't use the whole line due to allergies and sensitivities. So I tried to find a similar product with the same ingredients and stumbled upon this one with tons of great reviews. This is an intense formula--it WILL dry your skin out. But it will also actually work. I had a few spots that looked like freckles under my make up and they're totally gone or on their way out. This is basically an at home chemical peel so be sure to use good SPF and read the instructions! If you have any questions, let me know.

Cooler--"Knock off Yeti" is what we'll call this one. When our fridge died at the end of the year, this Christmas gift was a life saver. Keeps your ice, doesn't leak, isn't heavy. Need I say more? I bought a cool Georgia Southern sticker to cover the China logo.

Microfiber sheets--a million great Amazon reviews, and I need to add my own. So soft, the right 'temperature' and we both love them. No need to spend hundreds of dollars to get great sheets. Will be ordering more!

2019 was my first year using LiketoKnowit, which is an app that allows you to shop for the exact and similar items that I have while allowing me to earn a very small (usually less than 10% of the item's price!) commission. It's been interesting getting a little behind the scenes glimpse of what the "real bloggers" use to make the big bucks...like thousands and thousands of dollars a year. While I'm not there, I do appreciate those who have shopped with me and through my links! It's such a sweet surprise when people will message me on Instagram asking for a link to something they want to buy, that I haven't necessarily even shared yet.

Earning a little bit through LTK lets me continue to blog and share things on Instagram. I find it incredibly helpful to see how different things fit on a variety of body shapes and sizes, and I think it helps others too. Anyways, here's a round up of the most popular items from my LTK in 2019! Ya'll loved dresses and vacation wear so I'll be sure to keep that coming in 2020. And as always, thanks for visiting my Instagram and LiketoKnowit pages, every little like/comment/share/save/shop helps.
What do you want your life to look like?

I think we all have pictures of this in our head, but have you ever sat down and actually taken the time to think about your life and what you want it to look like? How you want the people to feel when they interact with you and the things you influence like your family, your work, and your home? I started thinking about a word for the year on the last day of December, and what I wanted my life to look like for 2020. Overwhelmingly, the word "home" kept popping up.

We've spent a lot of time in 2019 working on parts of our physical home and we plan to continue this in 2020. But "home" felt like something that could be broken down into a lot of little pieces that kind of encompassed a lot of my thoughts at this point in my life. So I started asking myself a lot of questions about the intentions I had for my space, things, life.

Inside my home: I want the spaces to feel cohesive. Right now, our upstairs and downstairs are like night and day and it drives me nuts. I dread going upstairs because it just feels so different than the first floor. Our first floor is clean (for the most part), organized (or at least getting there), inviting, and a place I enjoy being. Upstairs is where we dump and hide all of the things. It's not been painted since before we moved in so it visually doesn't match the curated look of the rest of the house. It's also cluttered, which I'm working on, and there is too much visual stress and mental weight to enjoy being in any of the spaces. I want my upstairs to feel just as good as the downstairs. I imagine a home where I never stress when people drop by and the whole space is fluid and open.

Inside myself: Similarly, I want to experience the same feelings of curation, organization, and welcome in my heart that I experience when I step through my front door. I want things to make sense: does this outfit reflect how I feel; does this activity or organization complete or deplete from the image of who I want to be and who God made me to be. Do I make people feel welcomed? Am I organized in my behaviors, with my things, etc.? It's a lot when you start think about it! A lot of it boils down to being intentional. I want to feel put together, so I have to be intentional about establishing routines and opportunities for that feeling to even exist. I don't feel curated when my house is a cluttered mess and my closet is a mash up of random 'in the moment' interests.

I know a lot of this may come across as setting an unattainable goals, but I think you have to sit down and figure out what you what your life to look like as some sort of guide. Otherwise it's all a clustery mess! I want people to feel welcomed in my home and in my life. I want to feel put together on the outside and the inside, like everything has a place and that it all belongs, just like a home. I need things to be organized and uncluttered at home and at work to free my mind from stress and be more productive.

So what do you want your life to look? How do you want people to feel when they're around you? How do you want to feel when you're in your space? Do you feel like you're at home? If you have a word of the year, let me know!

In August, we traveled to New Orleans a few days before Labor Day to kick off a fun-filled weekend trip. The main reason for our trip was to go to the Georgia Southern vs. LSU game in Baton Rouge on Saturday, so we added a stop in NOLA and Biloxi to explore and spend some time with friends.

We flew into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Thursday evening and took a Lyft {links with your Delta Skymiles for extra miles, guys!} to our hotel Le MĂ©ridien New Orleans. This was a beautiful place to stay in the heart of the Central Business District which is a lot quieter and cleaner than the French Quarter. Literally across the street from Harrah's if that's your thing, and less than a mile walk to the Quarter where you can begin to explore. The hotel has a really fun and eclectic vibe and we greatly enjoyed our stay there.

After dropping off our bags, we began to look for somewhere to go to dinner which proved more challenging at 9 p.m. in New Orleans than I had anticipated. We took off to see what was nearby and ended up at The Halal Guys which, while a chain, was absolutely amazing. I love a good gyro and this one was great--try the ghost pepper sauce, but a drop is a lot! After working all day and traveling that evening, we were tired and headed back to our room right after dinner in preparation for a long day on Friday.

Friday morning started off with the scrumptious breakfast from Bittersweet Confections. Found on picture perfect Magazine Street, we enjoyed a breakfast croissant, prosciutto, ricotta, and honey drizzled toast, a Nutella and white chocolate muffin and iced coffee before catching the free bus to Mardi Gras World. Truly a tourist destination, we were able to see from start to finish how the magnificent Mardi Gras floats are made while learning a little bit more of the history of the festival season. It was absolutely mesmerizing, and a super fun stop for all ages!

Thankfully, MGW has a free shuttle with lots of stops all over the city, so we hopped on the French Quarter shuttle and got to exploring. It ended up being a beautiful and surprisingly cooler August day, so we walked over eight miles throughout the city exploring. We took a lap around Jackson Square, admiring the architecture and the artists, before grabbing our first of many daiquiris at Willie's Chicken Shack. I'd planned on having a muffaletta lunch at Napoleon House but we were still really full from breakfast.

At 1 p.m. we joined the guided tour at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. The site of the first retail pharmacy, we were able to see and learn about old instruments, medicines, practices and beliefs from the 1800s. The pharmacist hubs was highly entertained. Once the tour wrapped up, we wandered for a while before heading to Pat O'Brien's for a famous hurricane at the piano bar. Going to a dueling pianos event is always fun, and it was a great place to cool off for an hour or so before a brief trip down Bourbon Street. Never my favorite place {wear closed toed shoes!}, it's still fun to people watch and try a new beverage or two.

After a nap back at the hotel and freshening up, we stood in line at Acme Oyster House for about 30 minutes before snagging two seats at the bar. Of course we had a dozen raw oysters, a po-boy and seafood etouffee--I even tried an oyster shooter. It was all super delicious and worth the wait! I had my heart set on taking a spin around the Carousel Bar with a French 75 in hand, and unfortunately I couldn't get a seat. We did however get a drink at the bar {which is actually a slowly spinning carousel!} and a couple of chairs in a cozy corner and were able to enjoy a fantastic jazz band after dinner! It was a ton of fun.

To top off the day, we of course had to swing by Cafe du Monde for an order of beignets before heading back to our hotel room to rest up before game day. I had hoped to go to the Ruby Slipper Cafe for brunch on Saturday, but we didn't get going early enough and ended up with a "recovery" meal of Raisin' Canes.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a sneak peek or two of the progress of our living room re-do. You may have also seen the utter disaster the rest of our downstairs is as we have been working in this room which literally takes up half of our main floor. So far we've painted the walls, ceiling and half the trim in the living room. We hope to finish the trim and start and finish the dining room this weekend, before tackling the kitchen.

I've found that I really like painting! When I'm working on a section, it's literally all I can think about. It can be a little hard for me to turn my brain off from time to time, but this task allows me to just zone out of everything else and focus on the literal task at hand.

I'm calling our look farmhouse glam for two reasons: 1. Our home has a bit of a farmhouse-y vibe to it. White, front porch, soon to be installed black metal roof, big yard with a fence, etc. But I'm not 100% committed to the Jo Anna Gaines farmhouse look, especially through the whole house. And CJM likes some color throughout as well. 2. I need just a little bit of glam and sparkle in my life, which we're incorporating through the gold metal accents, some soft pink velvet pillows, and faux fur throws/rugs. So #farmhouseglam it is!

I found a color scheme on Pinterest that was under the farmhouse glam kind of category and we both really liked it. Once we decided on the right gray for our home {Repose Gray}, we re-evaluated the suggested colors and decided it was a little too mix-y match-y for us, as well as being a little too warm. We like a bit of a cooler, cleaner color scheme. So we swapped out the navy for the Iron Ore color of our accents {it's not black, but a super dark charcoal color} and the mantle and banisters have just totally popped!

When CJM suggested painting the kitchen pink, I was honestly so surprised. But we have white cabinets that we have no plans to change, and have wanted to update the counter tops and tile to a white/marble-y look for a long time so it just seemed to make sense! We have a long ways to go, but working on these projects have been fun! I'll share more as we progress, but wanted to kind of document the process from start to finish, and this is the suggested paint scheme as of right now.

When we were on our cruise in May, we made a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. We had been there before and it was something that attracted us to the 2019 itinerary. I love exploring the little island that is full of fun and life. I knew I wanted to try and find a photographer at one of our stops to take some professional pictures of us since we haven't had any officially taken since our wedding. I'm so glad that I found Mik 'n Drik Photography in Cozumel! Oleksandr & Nadine were the sweetest couple to work with. They picked us up right outside the cruise ship terminal and drove us all over the island to some beautiful spots that we could have never found ourselves. They were really easy to talk to and answered our many questions about island life and the cruise industry.

We love the photos they took, and I wanted to share a few here! We're saving some for our Christmas card which I've already designed {Christmas in July I guess!}, but here's a little sneak peek! If you're ever in Cozumel and in need of photographers, definitely reach out to this duo: Mik 'n Drik.
And since I had to rebuy the gray Caslon sweater-jacket that I got last year because I somehow lost it {on November 11 to be exact. I remember the last time I wore it but it's no where to be found!}, I thought I'd share just the few things I picked up during card holder access.

First thing, super low no show socks. I know it's not the popular opinion, but I hate wearing booties without socks but I hate seeing socks even more. These are super low and no show, plus you can match your sock to your shoe. And for $9? Yes, please. These are great to wear with the black split ankle booties that I love, too. I wore these all year during fall and winter last year! So comfy and can be dressed up or down with jeans/leggings/dresses--it's one of the best pairs of shoes I've ever bought.

I'm loving this pretty Topshop sweater for fall, and I've reordered the gray drape-y sweater-jacket too. I really love this fun shorter pink piece to wear to work! Otherwise, nothing really was jumping out at me. As always, there's some great basic pieces but for the most part it's too warm to stock up on a ton of sweaters in my opinion. After four straight days of 100 degree temps, fall isn't exactly fresh on my mind.

Happy Shopping!

We've been doing HelloFresh for the last six months now, and while I love it, I don't order it every week. Some weeks I just know we're going to be too busy to cook three meals at home {sounds crazy, but true}, and I need to just cook one that will provide good leftovers for a few days. Anyways, we've been trying out a few recipes and I wanted to share!
Whoa, yum. We are pretty much Food Network addicts, and in almost every cooking competition show they talk about gochujang at least once. We're recently on the Sriracha train, too, and just Asian food in general. This stuff was so good. It was different, like a sticky spicy spaghetti, but still creamy and cheesy. I used organic lo mein noodles instead of spaghetti noodles to make it even more "authentic." Will definitely make again.

Avocado Shrimp Burgers
For some reason I'm not the biggest homemade burger fan {although CJM's are delish!}, but after having a delicious shrimp burger at The Battery in Atlanta, I wanted to try my hand at it. This recipe was really really good. I think next time, I'll just put all the shrimp in the food processor instead of only half because mine kind of came apart during the flip in the pan. I also think I'll either use a different kind of bread to make breadcrumbs or will use Panko breading--I went rouge and got potato buns instead of sesame, and when I pulsed them up to make the crumbs it got kind of clumpy. Will definitely make again.

Poblano Mac & Cheese
In Atlanta, we had the shrimp burger paired with the most amazing macaroni and cheese I think I've ever had. In an attempt to recreate, I tried this recipe. Seems really creamy and had a strong queso element which was a favorite aspect of the original dish. While this wasn't bad, it wasn't awesome either. I like cilantro, but this recipe called for wayyyy too much of it in my opinion. If we attempt again, I'll do less cilantro and more creamy cheesiness.

In May CJM and I went on our first Carnival cruise on the Carnival Sunshine out of Port Canaveral. This was a Cozumel Plus itinerary which was really attractive to us because we love Cozumel. The ship also visited three other ports we'd never gone to and was port-intensive so we'd have the chance to do a lot of stuff. I'll be honest, I was a little hesitant to do Carnival considering we've only ever done Royal Caribbean, but we really didn't start playing the comparison game until the very end. We always have a good time anywhere we go, so it really didn't matter which line is considered "nicer" or "more fun" or whatever. I do want to do a comparison post because there were some stark differences, but similarities too, and my ultimate take away is: you're on vacation, so it's fun!

We left on May 5, and I love cruising on Cinco de Mayo because there's always a little something fun about sailing on a holiday of any size. We drove half way to Port Canaveral the night before, and got on the ship right after lunch. With Carnival, you have to reserve a check-in time or be forced to wait. Luckily, we got to security right at 1 p.m. and walked on through. Our rooms weren't ready until 1:30 p.m., but as soon as they were we dropped our stuff, grabbed a drink, and started exploring.

Carnival Sunshine is an older ship with a semi-recent remodel, but I have to say, it's not like any other RCCL ship I've been on (old/new, big/small, etc.). This was very closed-in and hard to navigate, not a big open floor plan like I've become accustomed to. Unfortunately, there was a smell throughout many of the public hallways the entire week that was kind of awful. We tried to avoid those areas at all cost. If we cruise Carnival again, I'd have to try a newer ship. But overall, plenty of bars and things to do and see, and lots of dining options as well--something for everyone!

Our first stop was Cozumel, Mexico, and since our itinerary was a "Cozumel Plus" one we got extra time in port! I searched on Facebook a few months prior and found an amazing photography couple in Cozumel that were so sweet and picked us up right outside of the port. They took us all around the island and took some update photos of CJM and I while telling us more about Cozumel and their experience working in the cruise industry themselves. I highly recommend Mik 'n Drik Photography if you're ever in Cozumel, and I can't wait to show you our photos--although most are a surprise as I've already designed our Christmas card for this year!

After a few hours with them, we spent the rest of the day at the all-inclusive Mr. Sancho's day resort. Of course it was beautiful; the water in Cozumel is absolutely stunning. There were multiple pools, swim up bars, and plenty of lounge chairs. We may or may not have had too much to drink on the ship the night before, so we were finally ready to eat lunch and enjoyed their famous coconut shrimp, some fresh ceviche, salsa, and guac, as well as plenty of margaritas! CJM and I laid out right by the ocean for a couple of hours before spending some time in one of the pools. We met another couple and convinced them to end our day in Cozumel at the Thirsty Cougar Boozery which is home to my absolute favorite margarita in the whole entire world. It's an amazingly fresh cucumber jalapeno that is potent and has just the right amount of spice!

The following day we were in Belize, where we took a very long and uncomfortable boat ride out to Geoff's Caye, a tiny private island that only holds a hundred or so people. There we had an awesome time snorkeling in the clearest water for about an hour, before spending some time napping in the sun. They do have some guys out there grilling food that you can purchase, but we didn't get anything to eat. Belize is a tender port, and one I'd recommend definitely having an excursion planned for, unlike Cozumel which is so easy to explore and very safe.

Our third stop was Mahogany Bay, Isla of Roatan in Hondouras. This is Carnival's private port, and it was stunning {and for some reason, I basically took zero pictures here--I blame the strawberry margaritas!}. Of course there's the usual suspects {Diamonds International!}, but take a quick trip on the "flying chair" and you're on a beautiful white sandy beach. Our "excursion" for the day was actually two tickets to ride the flying chair aka ski lift, two reserved beach chairs and a clam shell umbrella, and two foam mats for the ocean. This was the only excursion I booked through Carnival because it was a really good deal. We checked in, got our spot, grabbed a drink and took our mats into the water. We basically spent all day on our mats floating and swimming which was another reason I didn't grab any pics.

On our fourth and final stop, we visited Costa Maya, Mexico. This port is really kind of cool because there are tons of shops and eateries, pools to swim in, flamingos, little museums and other things to explore all right there when you walk off the ship! If we go back to this port, I probably won't plan an excursion but instead plan on having a pool day because I really have never gotten in the pool on a ship before {kinda freaks me out}. This time, I booked and excursion to see some Mayan ruins because we've never done anything like that before and usually by this point in the trip, CJM has had more than enough sun. We ended up being the only two on our tour which was great, but it was a solid hour drive out to the ruins. We had a private tour around the ruins and our tour guide offered to take lots of pictures. On our ride back to port, we stopped at a roadside fruit stand had some of the best pineapple of my life!

Our first and last days of the cruise were sea days and very fun and relaxing. I do think Carnival does a really great job at being the "Fun Ship." It was a lot of fun, and they definitely are heavy handed with their drink pours! But overall, we missed some of the I suppose higher-end experiences we've grown accustomed to. My biggest issue was the terrible debarkation experience we had, but I'm not 100% sure if that's a Carnival or ship-specific issue.

We've lived in our house for almost two and a half years, which is kind of hard to believe. Time passes so much faster the older I get, plus we are always having a lot of fun in our community and traveling to other places too. But lately I've been feeling like I needed a change.

My family moved ever 18-24 months or so for most of my life, and I think that schedule is almost ingrained in my body. About six months ago, I just got the desire for a blank slate or a new house or something. After looking at a few things we decided to just stay where we are and make some changes here. You can always paint a wall after all, and our house is really the perfect size and location for us right now.

We've found a color palette that we're going to use to repaint the whole house {with just a few minor tweaks}, and we decided to get a few new pieces of furniture to really make the whole house feel fresh. CJM and I went to look at sofas on July 4th and fell in love with basically the first one we saw. The clearance center had multiples but they were on reserve for an interior designer who ended up wanting them all. Our living room is too narrow to have a sectional but I'm always feeling like we need more seating so we've decided to go with two matching sofas facing each other.

CJM really kicked the whole process off with a new coffee table, and I just ordered two slip covered Farlov sofas from Ikea {not linkable, so similar product is linked in the shopable image above}. They come in next week I cannot wait! In the meantime, I've been spending my evenings before bed perusing Amazon and Pinterest for all things home decor and curating the new look. You can check out our semi-current look here {we've changed the rug/curtains/a few pillows and things since then, but overall the feel is the same}.

But now, here comes the hard part. The new gray. The one in the color palette we're using is really a little too dark {SW Light French Gray}, and the lighter suggested version is Sherwin Williams Eider White. My SIL loves Agreeable Gray and I hear great things about Repose, too. So we're trying them all!

After getting two samples from my local SW store, I painted two sample sticker squares and stuck them on the wall. I realized those weren't the right colors, but didn't want to buy two more huge samples from SW {what's the deal with that anyways? Home Depot has like tiny samples that are true samples; these are like quarts!} and have to paint things to hang, etc. etc. While browsing Pinterest, this thing called Samplize popped up and I clicked! It's pre-painted sticker samples that cost less than $6 a piece! Perfection. I've order two other colors and they should arrive today. I'm super excited to hang all four colors together and finally pick the perfect gray.
I love traveling with my husband and getting away from it all. We have a lot of fun things planned...more snorkeling, a session with a photographer in Mexico, and a lot of sleep and sun.

Palm prints are at peak popularity {love some alliteration!} and a Caribbean cruise is the perfect excuse to break it all out. I've rounded up tons of great summer vacation pieces for any tropical location, and most are $20 or less! What's that, you ask? HelloFresh! We signed up for HelloFresh just after the first of the year, and have been receiving it on a pretty regular basis since. We're signed up for the three meal/two person weekly plan, and I've scheduled our deliveries for Tuesdays. One of my favorite things about HF is that you can skip weeks! Sometimes I know we are going to be too busy to cook three {or any meals if I'm honest} during the week, so we just skip the delivery. There's no fee to skip which is another perk.

Before signing up, I didn't really understand how it worked so I wanted to give you a good run down in case you're interested. Basically, you can sign up at any time, but I recommend finding a good sale or code to get started. We used a "$20 off each box for four boxes" code which was really nice. Once you sign up and select a plan {how many meals you want a week + how many people, two or four} you can then choose your meals. There's about 16 different meals to choose from that change weekly. It took about six weeks of deliveries for us to see a repeated meal offered, but you can always choose different ones or go back to one you tried and loved!
There are a few different types of meals: Hall of Fame, Calorie Smart, Gourmet {extra fee of $5.99+ per person} or Dinner2Lunch {basically makes two meals at once, extra fee of $5.99 per person}. We've tried a couple Gourmet meals but didn't really feel they were worth the extra fee. We tend to try a lot of Latin and Asian influenced dishes, and we're both pretty meat-centric, so I often choose hearty meals with steak and pork chops over pasta dishes or the vegetarian options.
The box is delivered weekly with all the fresh ingredients you need for the meals besides the basics like butter, S&P, and olive oil. Each meal comes with a full color, step-by-step instructional sheet that I keep with my other recipes to reference if I wanted to recreate a meal on my own. They usually take about 30-40 minutes to create, and almost always include scallions which we often laugh about.
Our plan {3 meals/2 people/weekly} runs about $60 a box, which may seem expensive at first, but I honestly feel like we get a much better value for our money doing this. We always eat all of the meals, which isn't necessarily the case if I got to the store and buy a lot of food. It takes the thinking out of meal time which to be honest, is huge for me as I get uninspired quickly and am not interested in creating something new at the end of the day. It also takes out the grocery trip, which is another thing I really love. I've become a Click List user at my grocery store and really avoid going in anytime I can. I don't really enjoy grocery shopping so between HF and Click List, I feel like I'm living my best life!
HelloFresh does not offer carb-conscious meals specifically, but I try to cut carbs where I can. If it's a Mexican meal, I'll swap the included tortilla for one of my low carb ones from the grocery store. Or I'll give CJM more of the rice/potato/etc. and less for me. It's really taught me a lot about cooking {like how long to grill a steak, and how to make a lot of sauces} that I really didn't know, which is an added bonus.

Have you tried HelloFresh or any other meal delivery service? L
et me know what you think!
I’m now able to say I think they’re great for the ladies too. From the beautiful packaging, to the variety of face and wood colors that can be customized with mixing and matching, there is a style for every taste. I absolutely loved how smooth the wood felt {doesn’t feel at all like what you’d think a wooden band would} and it is a whole lot lighter than the metal watch I normally wear. I think anytime you live in a small town, people complain. There's not enough restaurants, shops, or things to do. I've always been one to throw myself into anywhere I've lived and be involved in {too} many activities and organizations so I always feel busy. March, and most of February, in Dublin, Ga., is definitely a season where there isn't "nothing to do."
I'm a part of the volunteer-based Dublin-Laurens St. Patrick's Festival Committee that works all year to coordinate over 50 events throughout our community from mid-February through the end of March. This is my first year on the committee, and I honestly didn't realized just how much goes on during these six or so weeks until I got so involved! This is one of my favorite volunteer activities because it directly benefits our little community, but also because there are so many great people involved in all of our efforts.
This past weekend, we had our annual Irish Balloon Fest and I got to experience my first ride in a hot air balloon! As someone who is terribly afraid of heights {with the exception of roller coasters...I know, makes no sense} I was really proud of myself for just hopping in the basket and taking off. It was the coolest thing! A little scary as we topped the trees, but once we were up high enough, the quiet and stillness of the sky was something magical. We were able to see a couple of miles out in each direction and landed right in Downtown Dublin. There was also a balloon glow and tethered rides Saturday night which is such a beautiful sight to see.
This is officially the week of green in Dublin, with something going on every single day! I'm looking forward to taking pictures at the Leprechaun contest Tuesday night, visiting the Capitol in Atlanta Wednesday for the official festival proclamation by Governor Kemp, working and eating at the Pancake Supper Thursday night and attending the 20's-themed gala Friday evening. Super Saturday will hold the parade, corned beef and cabbage lunch, arts and crafts festival, ShamROCK and Munchies in the Park with all of this capped off by a special St. Patrick's brunch at the country club Sunday morning.
I snagged a few great tops yesterday when it first began, and most are still available. I took a second look this morning because a few new items were released around 9 a.m., but nothing in particular sparked my interest. Typically, my tactic is to stick to items that are less than $50 each, because otherwise it doesn't feel like such a deal unless it's THE item I HAVE to have. My goal this sale was to get some green tops ahead of St. Patrick's season in Dublin. You can never have too much green around here!

Publishing a real quick and festive post since I’ve been MIA for a few months. In years past, I’ve done an ornament review of my trees but I totally forgot in 2017! So here is a real quick peak at some of the newest pieces in my collection.

The first few are from our local Pilot Club that sells ornaments of different landmarks and businesses each Christmas. Transitioning into ornaments documenting our travels, you’ll find a Biltmore Estate piece as well as a Biltmore artisan’s pottery piece featuring designs created by horse hairs. Next, there is the beautiful gem covered crustacean documenting our time in the Delta, and a few fun ones from friends too!
I know I was waiting all September for it to finally get cool enough to make a pot of chili! Once October hit, I was ready to break out the pumpkin foods--I don't like pumpkin drinks though.

I served a big pot of chili just last week to some of my Junior League ladies. We had a little potluck night with the exec girls as we went through boxes and sorted event supplies. Everyone brought a little something, and it really made for a nice and easy fall get-together that you could replicate!

We had chili and baked potatoes with all the toppings, cornbread muffins, and a few different desserts to round it all out. Afterwards, the girls were asking for my chili recipe so I wanted to share:

Crock-pot Chili:

1 lb ground beef (or venison if you've got a freezer full like I do!)
2 16 oz cans of Bush's Best Chili Kidney Beans Spicy Chili Sauce
2 16 oz cans of black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can of sweet corn
1 10 oz can of Rotel Hot Diced Tomatoes With Habaneros
1 large can of crushed tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
1 mild chili seasoning packet

Cook the ground meat with half of the packet of mild chili seasoning (especially if venison) until well done. Drain. Add with rest of ingredients in crock pot. Cook on high for four hours, or low for six to eight. Serve with sour cream and Tillamook Mexican 4 Cheese Blend.

Another fun fall recipe is my favorite easy "healthy" pumpkin muffins. Easy, because no measuring. Healthy, because they're much lower in carbs and sugars than regular muffins but just as delicious!

Low Carb Pumpkin Muffins

1 15 oz can of pure pumpkin puree
1 box of Pillsbury sugar free yellow cake mix
1 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice
Semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, but I mean, come on)

Mix all ingredients until smooth. Grease muffin tin. Bake in regular muffin tin for 18-20 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes roughly 16 muffins.
And if you're looking for something not so healthy, but oh so delicious, my friend Kim shared an easy "semi-homemade" pumpkin cinnamon roll recipe that was easy and fun to make! I honestly felt so accomplished after rolling these up and baking them successfully. And they made the house smell too good!

Semi-Homemade Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

3 packages of crescent rolls (4 rolls per container)
1 15 oz can of pure pumpkin puree
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice

Lay dough on lightly floured surface, pinching together the seams. Mix pumpkin, brown sugar, and spices. Spread with half of the pumpkin mixture, and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste. Tightly roll lengthwise, and slice into 2 inch sections. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting

1 8oz block of cream cheese, softened
3 cups of powdered sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla
4 tablespoons of melted butter

Mix ingredients thoroughly with mixer. Add milk by the tablespoon if you desire a thinner, more glaze-like texture. Ice cinnamon rolls quickly after removing from the oven while still warm.

There is enough frosting and pumpkin puree mix to save and make a second batch for your neighbors or next weekend!
I may or may not have had my fall decor out since the end of August. I justified it by saying we had a football game almost every weekend in September {Hail Southern!} is true, but it really just makes me happy. Plus, doesn't the house seem to stay cleaner when there is some festive decor out and about?

I don't really love the traditional fall colors of orange, yellow, and red inside my home since so much of my home is a neutral color like gray, white, and brown. So I try to find some pieces that bring in a more rustic, fall vibe without being orange leaves, pumpkins, and scarecrows everywhere.

I ordered these buffalo check pillow covers from Amazon, and I'm so glad I did! I actually ended up buying a second set to have more pillows in this pattern! The 20 inch case fit my over sized pillows perfectly. I'm sure I'll leave these out at least through Christmas since I incorporate the buffalo check in to my main Christmas tree as well. The quality was great with these--very thick and you couldn't see through the fabric at all. They're a woven material that doesn't stretch though, so be careful when putting the pillows in!

I really love this neutral fall wreath, too. I have one similar that I picked up at TJ Maxx last fall. The white pumpkins and sunflowers really make this for me. I think these colors really pop on my blue door.

A few other Amazon favorites include my two favorite fall candles: Nest's Pumpkin Chai and Bath & Body Works' Marshmallow Fireside. The combo together is fabulous, and I truly believe the Pumpkin Chai is probably the best pumpkin scented candle ever. I also like these decorative galvanized buckets to sit the grocery store mums in. They add a little bit to the front porch which is nice.

TJ Maxx is also a great stop for fall decor, and I picked up these ceramic pumpkins this year. They have tons of sayings, sizes, and colors, and make the cutest little collection! What are your favorite fall decor items?

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of hosting my first bridge game as a member of the Dublin Girls' Cotillion. When I tell out of town people that I play bridge, I'm usually met with a similar "grandma" remark. I honestly can't remember even being aware of the game of bridge prior to moving here, but in Dublin, it's kind of a big deal.

There are lots of different groups and clubs that teach and play bridge regularly, with annual benefits and competitions. But our group is really social, and it's a great opportunity to get together with some girlfriends twice a month and have a glass of wine while playing a few hands.

I served a homemade pound cake with fresh whipped cream topped with strawberries. Some of my snacks {peanut butter M&Ms for the win!} were served in vintage ice cream dishes. I attempted another batch of my "Fancy Cookies" but the humidity took a toll on the icing, and they didn't turn out as perfectly as I would have liked. Cute though! It's so nice to enjoy some of the finer things in life with friends! And hosting such an event is a really great excuse to do some fall cleaning and decorating too.

One of my favorite things about playing bridge are all the beautiful card styles and sets. I have one with peonies, one with hydrangeas, and the multi-colored ones seen on the table above. Typically, I shop for all my bridge supplies from Smith's of Dublin, but have been pleased to find sets and score books on Amazon too! Here's a few of my faves:

Click here for the history of the gift lists!

We're a month away from my birthday--yay! And honestly, when I was thinking about a gift list it took me a few days to come up with anything. I guess we're just at that phase in life where if we want something we buy it. But I did think of a few things that I hadn't or wouldn't buy for myself, so here we go!

Faux Fur Leopard Print Coat: Over the top. Soft. Warm. I have this thing for outerwear, and even though this one is a little out there, I kind of love it. The reviews claim it's super soft and warm. It definitely would add some spice to any outfit!

Sheila Earrings: Gold, lightweight, and the perfect size. I have a Sheila bangle and I wear it almost every day. Gold hoops are kind of my standard earring, so I'd really like a pair of these to wear almost always!

Quilted Cross Body Bag: I'm not a huge "big" designer person, but these Gucci cross body bags really spoke to me. Unfortunately, they're super expensive, and are not something I'm willing to pay that kind of money for {especially since it's tiny, and kind of a trendy thing!}. I saw this Kaari Blue similar bag at Belk, and it's often on sale! It's a pretty pink color that would work year round.

Charleston Rice Beads Necklace in Vintage Gold: I have a handful of CRB bracelets that I love, and I really 'need' the gold necklace! Another great staple, I think I'd end up wearing this necklace, especially with work wear, more often than not. Add another color and layers for a fun effect.

Barrington Gifts bag set: I bought my first Barrington Gifts St. Anne Tote two falls ago, and I love it. I regularly rotate into it as it's great for work and travel with the roomy design. I first saw this lighter combo at this summer's Mint/Smith's photo shoot and fell in love. I would really like the tote and the travel bag to match! And they have a new "side stripe" design for the totes that is really fun. I'll always be a pink girl, so pink and beige accents it is.

Sparkle Drybar Blow Dryer: This is a holiday special that was just released. I really need a new blow dryer as I've recently cut my hair and my CVS $15 special just isn't cutting it anymore. I think investing in a good dryer would really change the game as far as speed of styling and various temperature settings. This dryer comes in a really great gift set that features some Drybar famous products I've been dying to try.

Fleetwood Mac Tickets: What a dream. CJM took me to the Eagles for my birthday last year, and it was absolutely amazing. Fleetwood is my third "must see" band {Eagles, Chicago, and Hootie have all been checked off since last bday} and I'd love for the hubs and I to go again. They're coming to a few local arenas next February/March, so I need to get to planning--can't let this one pass me by!

Sam Edelman Leopard Pumps: I've been eyeing these for years. I love Sam Edelman shoes, but had always just bought cheap printed pumps before now. With some knee issues I've had in the last year, I've learned how important it is to have quality shoes as they do make a difference in how you walk and feel. I'd love a pair of these for work and play, and I promise to never wear them at the same time as the leopard coat!

A few weeks ago, we attended my college roommates' beautiful wedding in Roswell. Everything was absolutely perfect, including the weather, which is typically miserable at best early in August in Georgia. I had picked up my dress a few months prior in TJ Maxx just for this occassion because I loved it, but I also loved it for many southern formal events. It got me thinking a little bit about formal attire during the late summer/into fall in the South. It's hot. It's going to be hot until the middle of October at least, but sometimes you want to look more fall-y and not sweat to death.

While I couldn't find my exact dress, I did find this similar one in navy which would work well for August/September. It's such a light, flowy fabric, but the flowers make it fun, and the length a little more formal. I will probably pair my dress with a fun black denim jacket like this one that I just ordered in the fall for a different, more edgy look.

My friend Michelle attended a gala last weekend in this beautiful one shoulder black dress that I had to share, especially after she mentioned it was on Amazon for under $35! I was floored--it's amazing. And it comes in some great fall colors too.
Mint boutique in Dublin has some great options as well, but I really love this green lace midi dress. The color is perfect for fall {also available in a blush rose color!}, and it's a light material that could be paired with a beautiful wrap or jacket as it cools off in October and November.

I'm obviously a fan of the lace midi dress, since that's what I wore to a wedding last October, too! A midi dress is a great choice regardless of the weather, and definitely fits well in a dressier setting. Plus, who doesn't want to get a little dressed up every now and again?

Now that it's over, I feel like I can safely mention the #Nsale. I'm not an LTK girl {LiketoKnowit bloggers are pretty popular on Instagram, and make commission off of sales. While I do use affiliate links, I don't use LTK} and while I get it's some bloggers livelihood, it can be a tad bit overwhelming to have it blasted across all channels for three weeks.

I didn't shop a lot, but I did pick up a few things from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. There were some good deals out there, and some great steals on designer pieces if you were looking for that dream item. I am more into staples that I can wear season after season, to work and to play, so I didn't get anything super exciting, but did love and hate a few things.

As you can tell, I definitely had a bit of a theme going on. I love gray so much for fall and winter {and my house, and allthethings} and when I saw this gray coat on blogger Brittany @loverlygray I knew I had to order it. Perfect balance of structured jacket but fun swinging movement, plus it was on sale for $100 off! Unfortunately, this lightweight wool blend Kenneth Cole coat was unlined making it the itchiest most uncomfortable piece of clothing I've ever put on my skin! I was really disappointed, but it had to go back. If you want to try it {IMO, don't.}, definitely go down a size. It runs large.

I ordered the gray Caslon Two Pocket Knit Blazer because I knew it would be a great work piece and it was a great price. It still is, even post-sale. It's the perfect transitional weight for cold summer offices into cooler fall days, and can be dressed up or down. I can't wait to pair it with dark jeans and loafers for a casual fall look.

During the sale/after the wool coat debacle, I fell in love with this other Caslon piece, but it was never available in the gray color in my size! The day after the sale ended {boo...} it popped up in my size, so I just bit the bullet and ordered it. Super glad I did, because if you know me you know I basically wear my robe around the house 24/7. This jacket feels just like my robe! It's so soft and cozy but not heavy at all. It looks really similar to the wool jacket and felt like a good replacement. The asymmetrical zipping adds a funky element that can kind of dress it up, making this the perfect travel/office/life jacket. I'm so glad I bought it, even at full price. It comes in three other colors, too.

On to the boots. Both the hubs and I needed new boots, so I got these black Steve Madden booties for me. I usually run between a 7.5 and 8 in shoes, and I'm glad I ordered the 8. Even though I know the leather will stretch some, they are a little tight, but I also have very wide feet. Best part? The rubber sole and heel makes them practically silent. These come in two other colors, too.

For CJM, we ordered this beautiful pair of Chelsea boots. I loved the leather color and the plaid detailing on the gore. These boots were even more beautiful in person, but ran a little big {the toe is longer/more pointed in person} so they had to be returned. Thankfully, Nordstrom always offers free shipping and returns, which makes shopping the sale even easier!

What did you buy from the #Nsale?
Cheers to a wonderful weekend! Even though I'm not in school anymore, it feels like summer is ending as our area schools get ready to go back in the next week and a half. Doesn't it feel like this summer has just flown by? We've been so busy, and will continue to be through August and football season, but this weekend I'm taking some time to really organize my closets and pantry.

While you're relaxing this weekend, enjoy a sip of something delicious and scroll through the second set of photos from my photo shoot with Smith's and Mint of Dublin. I loved the lighting of this outdoor cocktail hour setting so much! Even the InstaStories of this was beautiful.

Two things I'm loving: the striped jumpsuit and the Barrington Gifts bags. The jumpsuit is the softest thing ever, and great for a date night during this warm weather! And I want to order these bags for myself--I have the tote in the brown pattern with navy monogram {for Georgia Southern games prior to the clear-bag rule}, but I love this white/gray pattern too! I'd like to see a navy and pink monogram personally, and the overnight bag is a really great size. Birthday presents anyone...?

I feel stuck in a rut. A blog-less, unmotivated rut. I haven't been consistently blogging for over a year now, and it drives me nuts. It was so easy when we had a ton of wedding events happening, and lots going on. But now I battle a lack of inspiration vs. being in the moment. Chronicling things takes a lot of preparation and time. I was going to do a much better job of documenting the cruise for example, but decided once I was there to be more present and not worry about hauling my camera around 24/7. Sometimes I wonder if I should just stop blogging altogether and just do Instagram, but that doesn't feel quite right.

But I like documenting things, too! This is my little diary of sorts so it's important to me to keep a record of what's going on in my world. I have to admit, I'm feeling a little discouraged by the Facebook algorithm changes. I'm finally seeing the effects of it after skating by for so long with no repercussions. And is it time to shift focus? What should I be covering, and what do you want to see? I love creating content. It is so fun to me. But I also want to see results, and create content that people want to engage in. That's the goal-setter in me, I suppose!

So give me some tips: what do you do when you feel uninspired, or are seeking motivation for a new direction? What would you like to see more or less of in this space? I'd love to hear from you via email, comments below, or through social media! Don't hesitate to reach out!
Today I am thrilled to share with you the most perfect southern garden party, styled by Mint and Smith's of Dublin! You may have seen a few sneak peeks on my Instagram, as well as my "modeling" on Mint's social media, too. Kelly and Natalie are two of the best girl bosses I know, and I am so honored to work with them to help share their beautiful brands! Kelly's boutique Mint in downtown Dublin carries lines like Karlie, Crosby by Mollie Burch, Charlie Southern, and more. And Natalie's jewelry and gift store right next to Mint is your one stop shop for wedding, gifts, home decor, and more!
